The Healing Energy of Crystals and Stones

Crystals need to be dedicated to the purpose for which you use them. Dedicate a new crystal as soon as you have cleansed it. This focuses the energy.

Hold the crystal in your hands. Picture light surrounding it. If you find this difficult, hold your hands in front of a light source. Say out loud: "I dedicate this crystal to the highest good of all. May it be used in light and love". Reiki practitioners can Reiki their crystals in order to cleanse them.

To program your crystal, hold it. Let yourself be open to higher guidance. Consider the purpose for which you wish to use it. Be specific. If you want to attract love, describe exactly what kind of love you are looking for. If you are seeking healing, say precisely for which condition and what you want to happen. When you have formulated your program, attune to the crystal. Ensure that this is exactly the right crystal for the purpose. When you are totally in tune, say out loud: "I program this crystal for {your purpose}".

Then put the crystal in a place where you will see it frequently or keep it in your pocket. It can be helpful to hold it two or three times a day, or more. You may need to repeat the programming several times.

When not in use, wrap your crystals in a silk/velvet scarf, store in a pouch or keep on a bed of salt.

Using stones and crystals

Your commitment to the crystal is part of the healing process. Let the crystal do the work for you. It is best not to wear more than two stones at any one time if you are new to crystal healing, as many people find the effects too distracting. The length of time to obtain the effects desired will depend on the quality of the crystal (size, colour, energy charge), location of wear, duration, and the crystal's appropriateness to your healing. Some crystals are better suited to healing the overall problem which underlies the symptoms, than to just treating superficial symptoms. Select your crystal with an honest outlook on the real problem.

Wearing crystals or simply having one in close proximity (carrying one in your pocket or placing one on your night table or under your pillow) can boost your energy and allow them to impart their healing vibrations to your environment. You can also grid crystals around your home or bed, do crystal layouts or make gem elixirs and essences. Remember to program your crystals before use.

Rotating a crystal wand on the skin, or simply placing an appropriate stone on the affected area causes compression which releases a focused beam of vibrations to the affected organ beneath.

Also, meditating with a crystal is one of the easiest ways to attune to its energy.

Cleaning and caring for stones

Crystals and stones can pick up or absorb vibrations not in harmony with their natural rate or quality. They can also retain memories of the thoughts and feelings of those that come in contact with them. Because of this, it is recommended that all stones and crystals be cleansed on a regular basis. You'll know it's time when the stone's energy seems to have diminished or its energy feels "tired".

There are many ways you can do this. The easiest for most people is to simply place the stone or crystal in direct sunlight for a few hours. Sunlight is the colors of light, each color having a different vibration rate. This bombardment of energy will strip away the lingering energies that don't belong there, washing them away to leave only those energies produced by the structure of the crystal or stone itself. Sunlight can fade some stones, however, such as Amethyst, Aventurine, Citrine, Fluorite, Rose Quartz and Smokey Quartz.

Another way is to bury them in the earth. The earth produces vibrational energies in large amounts due to the abundance of moving electrons in its component parts. This energy covers a range of frequencies beyond what the eye can see, with each of the elements producing its own "tone" or vibration rate. Remember to mark where you bury them so you can find them again! Using a bag would help too. This vibration washes away the negative energies and leaves only the energies of the stone or crystal itself. Keep your stones and crystals buried for at least 2 or 3 days.

Another alternative is to put coarse sea salt in a small container and bury the stone for between 7-24 hours. Don't use salt water as prolonged use can damage softer stones. You can also keep your stones on a bed of salt when not in use. Sprinkling in a bit of tobacco will help energize the salt.

Placing your crystals and stones in a running stream can cleanse them too. You can also blow with force on your stone or crystal to release negative energy.

Citrine and Kyanite can also be used to clean your stones and crystals. They are the only two self-cleaning crystals and stones. You can place your stones on them, as well as Selenite, or Apophylite or Amethyst clusters for approx. two hours and they will emerge completely energized.

Other methods include using the light of a full moon, a bell, gong or tuning fork, running water (except stones like Selenite and Desert Rose which will melt) a candle, incense or smudge.

Take care of your stones and crystals - and they'll take care of you!

To others it may take a little practice. It is a fun way to find answers to some of life’s questions and to develop your psychic ability.

People normally turn to divination when they have a burning question or when they are at a crossroad and must make an important life decision. It is usually a time of indecision and divination can help us to determine what is really important to us. Our mind is a strong and influential force that often rules our decision making. Our logical mind, however, can trick us into making decisions that do not take all the important aspects of ourselves into account. Divination helps you to tap into our intuition and find out what you really want and what will really help you to achieve your life goals.

The Pendulum

However, the material that a pendulum is made from can increase particular energies that contribute to the power of your divination. Pendulums made from semi-precious stones or crystals bring to your divination the special quality that the stone or crystal provides. These special qualities can assist you by increasing the positive energy during the divination process. Below is an example of some semi-precious stones and their particular qualities:

Amethyst – soothes the nervous system, balancing emotions. It helps you to feel more in control. It is good for relieving physical and emotional pain and overcoming addictions, dispelling anger, fear and anxiety.

Many pendulums contain a hollow chamber into which you can insert an object of significance to your divination questions. Chambered pendulums are usually made from metal and have a small hinged lid that opens to a small hollow chamber. Objects that are commonly inserted in the chamber include small crystals or stones to increase particular energies or a hair or piece of clothing from someone central to the question that is being asked. This makes chambered pendulums a very powerful tool for use in pendulum divination.

Preparing for Divination

Because we often turn to divination when we have a great desire to find the answer to a question, it is important to ensure we are in the right state of mind for undertaking divination. A genuine desire to find an answer is an important factor to successful divination. However, it is also important that you do not approach finding the answer in a desperate way with too much emotional attachment to the answer. You must approach divination in a relaxed manner, remaining a little detached from the answer. If you are too anxious and put too much pressure on yourself, the process will be ineffective.

For the best results, especially if you are using divination as a way to answer a question that causes you stress, it is advisable to undertake divination directly after meditating. Alternatively, here is a relaxation technique that will assist in reducing any anxiety directly before undertaking divination:

Light an aromatic candle or incense in a relaxing scent (examples: amber, lavender, geranium, jasmine, frankincense) in a room where you will not be disturbed. You could put on some relaxing music if you find that calming. Sit or lie somewhere comfortable. Once you are settled, imagine a light entering your body from your feet and gradually filling your body. As the light travels up your legs and through your body visualize the light entering every sinew, muscle, tendon and vein – every cell. Imagine the light to be soothing, calming and relaxing you as it pours into every aspect of your body. If you have an ache or a pain, concentrate the light on that point, making it bright and imagining the light healing the pain. As the light continues to make its way up through your body, it takes with it any pain, discomfort or stress until finally pouring out through the top of your head, expelling anything that is making you ill at ease.

By relaxing prior to divination, you will reduce your internal ‘noise’ and will be better able to focus your mind on the question. A more relaxed state will help you to remain calm and will assist you to get in contact with your intuition.

Determining the Question

Because pendulum divination is used to provide a Yes or No answer, you must be careful how you ask the question. The question must be unambiguous. Sometimes it is better to ask a series of simple questions that can be answered with either yes or no than to ask a complicated question where answering yes or no does not really give you a meaningful answer. Spend some time on your question as, if you ask ambiguous questions in the early stages of learning to use the pendulum, you may loose confidence in the accuracy of the process.

Practicing with a few simple questions first will help you to determine how to best form a question to find an answer to the important issues. Sometimes the timing for the question is not right. If this is the case, you will not receive an answer. You can, however, ask the pendulum whether the timing is right.

How To Use Your Pendulum

Determining the Yes and No Signals

Find somewhere comfortable to sit. Hold the cord or chain of the pendulum between the thumb and forefinger, leaving 2 to 4 inches of cord between the pendulum and your fingers. Ensure that your fingers are pointing down so that the pendulum can swing freely.

Hold the pendulum in front of you, so that it has plenty of room to swing above your knees.

To start the divination process, swing the pendulum in a motion away from you and towards you. This is the neutral action and is a way of saying, “I am ready to start divining”.

Firstly, you need to predetermine the signals that mean Yes and No. To do this, you ask the pendulum.

To determine the Yes Response - While your pendulum is still swinging in the neutral action, state, ‘show me my Yes response’. You do not need to say this out loud but make sure you state it clearly in you mind. Now watch the pendulum. It will change direction or change its movement style or it may stop altogether. Whatever movement it makes after you ask for your Yes response is the movement that will be your signal for Yes.

To determine the No Response - Swing the pendulum once again in the neutral action. While the pendulum is still swinging in the neutral action, state ‘show me my No response’. Watch the pendulum and whatever motion it makes will be your No response.

Repeat the process outlined above until you are confident that you have a predetermined response for Yes and No.

If You Don’t Get a Clear Signal

When you first start using a pendulum this process may take a while as you are using a part of your psyche that may not be well practiced. You need to be patient with yourself and keep you mind focussed on the question you are asking. For some this comes immediately but for many it will take practice.

If, after trying a number of times, you are not getting a clear signal from the pendulum for Yes and No, you can decide your signals using your conscious mind. To do this, repeat the exercise as stated above but this time decide on what movement you would like to be your Yes signal and what movement you would like to be your No signal.

To consciously determine your Yes signal, firstly swing the pendulum in the neutral position, then state in your mind, or out loud, ‘this will be my Yes signal”. On making this statement, deliberately swing the pendulum in the motion that you have chosen to mean Yes. Do the same thing to determine the No signal. Once you have set your responses, practice swapping between Yes, Neutral, No, Neutral, Yes, etc. Test out the predetermined responses by asking some simple questions and let the pendulum signal the answer.

Like anything new, your divination will improve through practice. Practice helps you to focus your mind and will help you to develop an emotionally detached disposition when divining. Over time you will increase your ability to ‘hear’ your intuition and improve your general psychic ability.

What is Magick Anyway?

Being a practicing Wiccan I certainly hear this question often. People are unsure as to what Magick is exactly. Either they think that it is all smoke and mirrors, or that it is some sort of dark art that is not meant to be played with. The fact is that Magick is something that we do often, maybe even without knowing it!

To begin to understand Magick we have to first understand energy. As we know energy is all around us all of the time. Everything that we see, touch, feel, smell, and taste, and hear is made up of energy. It is the guiding force that holds this world together, and yet without our intuitive ability we cannot experience energy on its own. Energy is not only a part of Magick, but it is the force of Magick itself. Before I go further there may be some of you out there that think I am a pretty bad speller. Magick (with a k) is what we are discussing here and has to do with energy, Magic however is the illusion: it is the smoke and mirror that you see in Las Vegas.
So we know that Magick has to do with energy but what exactly does it have to do with it? When you use Magick you are in essence manipulating or changing energy so that you can cause a particular reaction. In other words you are using the power of intention in order to manifest a particular event. Intention is something that we all know about and do, especially nowadays with the introduction of the book “The Secret”. Magick is just that, using intention in order to manifest.
So what do all these spells have to do with anything? I’m glad that you asked! Spells are most commonly used in Wiccan traditions as well as many other Pagan cultures. In a spell you are performing a Magickal ritual or rite in order to aid in that manifestation. Spells you see are very similar to prayer for many other cultures and religions. You concentrate on the intention that you want and ask for the assistance from the energy of the Universe or of the Goddess and God forces. Then you allow the Universe to work on it to aid you in attaining your goal. There is a difference here though. The Universe is not going to do all the work for you of course; you will have to act upon it on the physical level as well. For instance, if someone were doing a spell to find a job but never left the house to go job hunting and just sat in front of the TV waiting, nothing would happen. An employer is not going to come and knock on your door and offer you a position. You have to act on it physically as well in order to get the best manifestation.

So Magick in a nutshell is altering the energy that surrounds you in order to help you attain a specific goal or purpose that you want to occur. Great, now we know what Magick is but we still don’t know how it works. As I said before intention is a big key in Magick and with that come belief. These two together form the most important part of not only Magick but of all things and religions. Without belief, it wouldn’t matter what anything was, it would not have any meaning to it and without intention, you cannot put faith into that belief in order to make it true for you. Belief especially plays a large role here. I have many people that tell me that they preformed a spell or ritual and that it didn’t work for them so all this Magick mumbo-jumbo must be fake. The first thing I ask them is if they believed that it was going to work? Usually after some poking and prodding I get the answer from them and it is a no! If you don’t believe that it is going to work from the very start then there is no need to do the Magick. You are basically negating the energy that you are raising for your purpose as soon as you raise it.

The Healing Energy of Crystals and Stones

Our universe is one of vibrations. Absolutely everything (including us) vibrates at a molecular level! In some objects, these vibrations tend to cancel one another due to the chaotic structure of their atoms. But other things, like crystals, have structures that allow these vibrations to add together.

This addition of vibrations due to the structure of objects like crystals cause them to amplify and radiate this energy of vibration. These vibrations are subtle, but they can be used to help you handle many of life’s everyday problems.

Stones and crystals each have a unique structure and composition. This gives each one a unique vibration rate and quality.

At the heart of a crystal is the atom and its component parts. An atom is dynamic, consisting of particles rotating around a centre in constant motion. So, although a crystal may look outwardly serene, it is actually a seething molecular mass vibrating at a certain frequency. This is what gives a crystal its energy.

Your body is made of the same elements found in stones and crystals. Your body and its internal organs is a collection of parts, each with a specific structure (on a chemical level), each made up of different combinations of carbon, hydrogen and other elements. Because of its structure and composition, each part of your body vibrates and emits energy into the space around it. If you could see these vibrations which are very high frequency you would see them as an energy body that extended well beyond your physical one. Impurities within your body alter these vibrations, adding chaotic elements that distort your energy body. These distortions can starve some areas of your physical body, preventing them from getting the correct vibrational energy that keeps them operating in harmony with the rest of the parts that make up your physical self.

Since stones and crystals vibrate and emit pure, strong vibrations at constant rates, they can be used to help eliminate distortions and restore proper balance, leading to better overall physical, mental and spiritual well being. Each stone and crystal emits subtle vibrations that influence a specific area of your body. Matching the stone or crystal to its specific use allows you to get the most benefit from these natural gifts of harmony.

Scientific evidence about the potential health benefits and risks associated with stones and crystals is hard to come by, but crystals and stones have been used for thousands and thousands of years. This would seem to indicate not only their safety, but also their effectiveness. However, always seek medical attention from a qualified medical or mental health worker, or a Natural Health Practitioner, if you suspect you have a serious problem. The energies radiated from crystals and gems are subtle, and work over time.

WHY AND HOW TO CHOOSE A STONE OR CRYSTAL

Crystals and stones have been used since the dawn of civilization. They can be used to influence our moods, our health, our personal development, our wealth, our environment and our relationships. If you are trying to choose a crystal for a specific reason, then focus on that reason and allow your intuition to choose the right crystals. If it’s for someone else, focus on that person.

The one you need will let you know, you will sense it – it might “catch your eye”, be a “must have”, “feel right” when you hold it, or you could even hear, taste or smell something that’ll let you know. There may also be strong pulsing in your hand when you hold it.

Choosing crystals is mainly about using your intuition and using your six senses as an extension of that intuition. Remember that crystals will choose you as much as you choose them! Enjoy them and remember to thank them too!

DEDICATING AND PROGRAMMING YOUR CRYSTALS

Crystals need to be dedicated to the purpose for which you use them. Dedicate a new crystal as soon as you have cleansed it. This focuses the energy.

Hold the crystal in your hands. Picture light surrounding it. If you find this difficult, hold your hands in front of a light source. Say out loud: “I dedicate this crystal to the highest good of all. May it be used in light and love”. Reiki practitioners can Reiki their crystals in order to cleanse them.

To program your crystal, hold it. Let yourself be open to higher guidance. Consider the purpose for which you wish to use it. Be specific. If you want to attract love, describe exactly what kind of love you are looking for. If you are seeking healing, say precisely for which condition and what you want to happen. When you have formulated your program, attune to the crystal. Ensure that this is exactly the right crystal for the purpose. When you are totally in tune, say out loud: “I program this crystal for (your purpose)”.

Then put the crystal in a place where you will see it frequently or keep it in your pocket. It can be helpful to hold it two or three times a day, or more. You may need to repeat the programming several times.

When not in use, wrap your crystals in a silk/velvet scarf, store in a pouch or keep on a bed of salt.

USING STONES AND CRYSTALS

Your commitment to the crystal is part of the healing process. Let the crystal do the work for you. It is best not to wear more than two stones at any one time if you are new to crystal healing, as many people find the effects too distracting. The length of time to obtain the effects desired will depend on the quality of the crystal (size, colour, energy charge), location of wear, duration, and the crystal's appropriateness to your healing. Some crystals are better suited to healing the overall problem which underlies the symptoms, than to just treating superficial symptoms. Select your crystal with an honest outlook on the real problem.

Wearing crystals or simply having one in close proximity (carrying one in your pocket or placing one on your night table or under your pillow) can boost your energy and allow them to impart their healing vibrations to your environment. You can also grid crystals around your home or bed, do crystal layouts or make gem elixirs and essences. Remember to program your crystals before use.

Rotating a crystal wand on the skin, or simply placing an appropriate stone on the affected area causes compression which releases a focused beam of vibrations to the affected organ beneath.

Also, meditating with a crystal is one of the easiest ways to attune to its energy.

CLEANING AND CARING FOR STONES AND CRYSTALS

Crystals and stones can pick up or absorb vibrations not in harmony with their natural rate or quality. They can also retain memories of the thoughts and feelings of those that come in contact with them. Because of this, it is recommended that all stones and crystals be cleansed on a regular basis. You’ll know it’s time when the stone’s energy seems to have diminished or its energy feels “tired”.

There are many ways you can do this. The easiest for most people is to simply place the stone or crystal in direct sunlight for a few hours. Sunlight is the colors of light, each color having a different vibration rate. This bombardment of energy will strip away the lingering energies that don’t belong there, washing them away to leave only those energies produced by the structure of the crystal or stone itself. Sunlight can fade some stones, however, such as Amethyst, Aventurine, Citrine, Fluorite, Rose Quartz and Smokey Quartz.

Another way is to bury them in the earth. The earth produces vibrational energies in large amounts due to the abundance of moving electrons in its component parts. This energy covers a range of frequencies beyond what the eye can see, with each of the elements producing its own “tone” or vibration rate. Remember to mark where you bury them so you can find them again! Using a bag would help too. This vibration washes away the negative energies and leaves only the energies of the stone or crystal itself. Keep your stones and crystals buried for at least 2 or 3 days.

Another alternative is to put coarse sea salt in a small container and bury the stone for between 7-24 hours. Don’t use salt water as prolonged use can damage softer stones. You can also keep your stones on a bed of salt when not in use. Sprinkling in a bit of tobacco will help energize the salt.

Placing your crystals and stones in a running stream can cleanse them too. You can also blow with force on your stone or crystal to release negative energy.

Citrine and Kyanite can also be used to clean your stones and crystals. They are the only two self-cleaning crystals and stones. You can place your stones on them, as well as Selenite, or Apophylite or Amethyst clusters for approx. two hours and they will emerge completely energized.

Other methods include using the light of a full moon, a bell, gong or tuning fork, running water (except stones like Selenite and Desert Rose which will melt) a candle, incense or smudge.
