Step 1
Fold the silk material in half with the insides facing out, creating a 4-by-8 inch rectangle. Pin together the two sides of material along the long raw edge and one of the shorter raw edges.
Step 2
Measure 1/4-inch from the end of the material on the pinned sides and sew the two pinned sides together, using either the sewing machine or needle and thread.
Step 3
Turn the bag right side out and smooth the corners. Iron the bag flat if desired and leave the unfinished edge open for the time being.
Muslin Material Preparation
Step 1
Create another 4-by-8 inch rectangle by folding the muslin material in half and pin the two long raw sides together, then pin one of the short raw edges.
Step 2
Measure 1/2-inch from the end of the material on the pinned sides, and sew the two pinned sides together using either the sewing machine or needle and thread.
Step 3
Turn the bag right side out, leaving the unfinished edge open.
Completing The Muslin Bag
Step 1
Pour the flax seeds into the open edge of the muslin bag.
Step 2
Pour in the dried herbs or essential oil and knead the bag to mix.
Step 3
Fold the raw edges in 1/2 inch and sew the bag shut 1/4 inch along the folded seam.
Completing The Silk Bag
Step 1
Slide the muslin bag into the opening of the silk bag and knead the flax seeds to flatten the internal bag.
Step 2
Fold the raw edges of the silk bag inward 1/4 inch and pin edges together.
Step 3
Sew the pinned edges of the bag together 1/8 inch from the edge to complete the yoga eye bag.
Tips and Warnings
- If you have sinus allergies or sensitivity to herbs, refrain from adding them to your bag. Sealing your yoga eye bag in a plastic bag when not is use helps to maintain the aroma.
- Some essential oils are irritating to the skin if they make direct contact, so use caution when using aroma-therapeutic oils.
